This is a genuinely excellent resort in the single best physical location in the Hotel Zone. That is not the question. The question is whether your points belong here, and the answer changed twice in 2026 in ways almost nobody has written up properly. What a Night Actually Costs in Points Now

Hyatt runs a separate award chart for its Inclusive Collection, lettered A through F rather than numbered 1 through 8. Hyatt Ziva Cancun sits at Category F, the top band, alongside Impression by Secrets Moxché and Impression by Secrets Isla Mujeres. On May 20, 2026, Hyatt replaced the old off-peak, standard and peak structure with five tiers named Lowest, Low, Moderate, Upper and Top, and per Hyatt’s own announcement the all-inclusive chart was expanded the same way. Read the last column, because the change is the story. The floor barely moved, rising from 42,000 to 45,000, about 7%. The middle jumped from 50,000 to 65,000, roughly 30%. The ceiling went from 58,000 to 85,000, close to 47%. Hyatt has said the move into Upper and Top pricing will be gradual through 2026 with broader adoption later, so you will still find Lowest and Low dates today. You will find fewer of them next year. Two sources conflict on this property and the conflict is worth naming. Several well-known 2026 write-ups still list Hyatt Ziva Cancun as a Category C resort at 25,000 points, and at least one review site calls it “Category 6,” which is a number from the standard hotel chart that does not apply to all-inclusives at all. Those figures date from before the property climbed the chart. A separate cluster of sources published just before May 20 quotes Category F at 42,000 off-peak, 50,000 standard and 58,000 peak. An award night covers single or double occupancy only, with a maximum of four people per room, and each guest beyond the second costs additional points per night per Hyatt’s published award terms. A family of four on a Moderate night is 65,000 plus 32,500 plus 32,500, which is 130,000 World of Hyatt points for a single night. That is not a typo, and it is the number that should decide whether you keep reading with a family in mind.

The Cents-Per-Point Math, Without the Cheerleading

Every redemption argument comes down to the cash rate you are avoiding. Kayak’s rolling 12-month data for Hyatt Ziva Cancun puts September as the cheapest month at an average of $545 a night and March as the most expensive at $960, with Momondo showing a 12-month average around $473 and entry rates from roughly $372. Thrifty Traveler’s reporting puts a family of four in the $700 to $800 range per night. Those are averages across a year of observed bookings rather than a quote for your dates, so treat them as the shape of the curve and price the cash rate for your dates before you do anything else.

Now run the division. TPG’s July 2026 valuation puts a Hyatt point at 1.6 cents, Upgraded Points says 1.5 and Prince of Travel dropped to 1.4 after the May devaluation, so call the target 1.5 cents and anything below that a loss.

What you are hunting is a mismatch: a date Hyatt has classified as Lowest or Low where the cash rate has not been discounted to match. They are not the norm, and I want to be blunt that on most dates I looked at, the cash booking was the better financial decision. Two things do genuinely tilt the math toward points. Every Way to Get the Points, Priced Against Each Other

An article that covers one acquisition route is half an article. There are four realistic paths into a World of Hyatt balance big enough for this resort, plus one that does not work at all and that people keep trying anyway.

Transferring from Chase, and the October 1 cliff

This is the main road and it narrows in eleven days. Chase announced alongside the June 2026 Sapphire Preferred refresh that Ultimate Rewards transfers to World of Hyatt drop from 1:1 to 4:3 for the Chase Sapphire Preferred and Chase Ink Business Preferred. Anyone approved on or after June 15, 2026 already has the worse ratio. Everyone else keeps 1:1 through September 30, 2026 and moves to 4:3 on October 1. Here is what that does to this specific booking. A 45,000-point Lowest night costs 45,000 Ultimate Rewards today and 60,000 from a Preferred on October 1. A 65,000-point Moderate night goes from 65,000 to 87,000, because Chase transfers move in 1,000-point increments and you have to round up. Two Lowest nights climb from 90,000 to 120,000 Ultimate Rewards. That is a 33% increase in the cost of the same room, stacked on top of a 30% award chart increase four months earlier. The two devaluations together mean a mid-tier night at this resort costs a Sapphire Preferred holder 87,000 Chase points where it cost 50,000 in April.

The obvious move is to transfer before September 30, and the obvious trap is transferring speculatively. Hyatt points do not come back. Only move points against dates you have already found and priced, and if you hold a Reserve, pool your Ultimate Rewards there instead and keep the 1:1 permanently. Buying Hyatt points, which does not work here

Hyatt is running a 20% discount on purchased points through 11:59pm ET on October 5, 2026, with a 3,000-point minimum in a single transaction. That brings the price to 2.08 cents per point against a standard rate of 2.6 cents, and 55,000 points costs $1,144. Run it against this property and the answer is immediate: 45,000 points at 2.08 cents is $936 for one Lowest night, against an average September cash rate of $545. You would be paying nearly double to avoid paying. Even against the March average of $960, a peak date prices at Top rather than Lowest, so you would need 85,000 points costing $1,768.

There is a second, structural reason this path is closed. Hyatt caps point purchases at 55,000 per member per calendar year, which does not even cover one Moderate night. Buying points is a top-off tool for someone 6,000 short of a booking, not a strategy for a Category F all-inclusive. Purchased points also do not count toward elite qualification, and these offers are sometimes targeted, so confirm what your own account shows before planning around it.

Free night certificates, which mostly do not apply

This is the rule that surprises people most. The Category 1-4 certificate from the World of Hyatt Credit Card, from Brand Explorer, and from hitting 30 elite nights cannot be used at any all-inclusive resort, full stop. The Category 1-7 certificate earned at 60 elite nights cannot be used at Category E or F all-inclusives, which rules out Hyatt Ziva Cancun specifically. Hyatt’s Cancun Footprint Is Shrinking, Which Changes the Alternatives

Two properties left the program in the space of six weeks, and if you are comparing Cancun options on points this matters more than any individual award rate. Hyatt Vivid Grand Island exited the Inclusive Collection effective August 19, 2026. Breathless Cancun Soul Resort & Spa exits on September 30, 2026 and reopens as Amàre Cancun Adults Only All-Inclusive Resort, Curio Collection by Hilton, with Hilton listing an October 31 opening and accepting reservations from October 29. It is the adults-only tower on the same stretch of the Hotel Zone, it is Category E rather than F, and it is 10,000 points cheaper at every single tier. If you are traveling without children, the Ziva’s family programming is not a feature for you and you are paying 10,000 points a night for a kids’ club you will never enter.
